| 内容記述 | This paper argues for unstable democracy in Taiwan after a change of government in 2000. Taiwan has become a full-fledged democracy, but democracy has failed to reduce partisan confrontation and social divisions in Taiwan. This paper studies the problems in Taiwan's democracy, and tentatively argues that a key problem is political leader's, that is, President Chen Shui-bian's political strategy and style, which is characterized as populism. This paper further suggests that, struggling against the opposition parties and People's Republic of China, President Chen Shui-bian has unavoidably chosen ethnic-national issues in order to win political supports, which has stimulated ethnic cleavage and led to social divisions. | |||||||
