 note = {In this article, the development and the significance of the Fair Trade Town (FTT) movement in Japan will be examined, focusing on a comparison of the cases of Inabe City, Mie Prefecture, with other towns and cities.
Firstly, a brief history of the FTT movement in Japan is reviewed, and the goals and guidelines of FTTs in Japan are detailed. One of these six guidelines, the contribution to the vitalization of the local economy and community, was selected and emphasized to highlight the Japanese FTT committee and the FTT movements in Japan in general. Secondly, the FTT movement in Inabe City is described in detail. In 2018, Noriko Haba and
the members of the FTT committee in Inabe City started the FTT movement there. They were very active in this movement, resulting in Inabe City being elected as a FTT in 2019. In conclusion, we can expect the development of the FTT movement further throughout Japan and other countries.},
