Firstly, a brief history of the fair trade town movement in Japan is reviewed, and the goals and guidelines of fair trade towns in Japan are detailed. One of the six guidelines in Japan, a contribution to the vitalization of the local economy and community, was selected and emphasis was placed on this by the Japanese fair trade town committee and all the fair trade town movements in Japan. Secondly, the fair trade town movement in Tarui Town and the local vitalization movement in Ibigawa Town are described in detail. In 2014, Kanda Hiroshi and the member of the fair trade festival committee in Tarui Town started the fair trade town movement there. They are very active in this movement and hope Tarui Town to be elected as a fair trade town in the near future. Thirdly, the fair trade town movement in Zushi City is described in detail. Isono Yoshiko, who is the secretary general of the committee of Zushi fair trade town movement, started the movement in 2011. In 2016, Isono and her colleagues succeeded in Zushi City to be elected as the third fair-trade town in Japan.
