Participants were 20 Japanese university students, and they were asked to take a Reading Skill Test to measure their reading comprehension in Japanese and a Reading Span Test (RST) to measure their working memory capacity. The study used TOEIC IP (L+R) scores as a measure of English proficiency. The findings revealed that there was no statistically significant relation between TOEIC IP (L+R) scores, the Reading Skill Test, and the RST.
