However accurate surveys have not been conducted on international students with developmental disabilities such as ASD. In recent years, reports on female students with ASD have been increasing based on data from clinical trials in the fields of Psychiatry and Psycho-somatic Medicine. However, there are few studies of cases targeting international students with ASD who are studying in Japan. Therefore, when students diagnosed with ASD in their country faces difficulties while living in Japan in an environment different from their country, it is not yet clear what kind of support is appropriate. This paper focuses on daily life problems that occurred in a Japanese university dormitory and reports that it is effective to provide supports that encourages “self-understanding” for an international student with ASD. Furthermore, it is effective for the people around students with ASD to understand and cooperate with the provision of “reasonable accommodation” that is not a form of special treatment. 内容記述 | It has been reported that the number of students with developmental disabilities enrolled in Japanese universities continues to increase every year, and the percentage of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder( ASD) is also high. However accurate surveys have not been conducted on international students with developmental disabilities such as ASD. In recent years, reports on female students with ASD have been increasing based on data from clinical trials in the fields of Psychiatry and Psycho-somatic Medicine. However, there are few studies of cases targeting international students with ASD who are studying in Japan. Therefore, when students diagnosed with ASD in their country faces difficulties while living in Japan in an environment different from their country, it is not yet clear what kind of support is appropriate. This paper focuses on daily life problems that occurred in a Japanese university dormitory and reports that it is effective to provide supports that encourages “self-understanding” for an international student with ASD.
