The Effectiveness of Multi-Sensony Approach for an International Student with Dyslexia: Solving Difficulties in Intermediate Level Japanese Reading Comprehension
First, this paper examines existing literature and provides an overview of how international students with developmental and learning disabilities have garnered significant attention from researchers, as part of the increased interest in how diverse Japanese language learners can be. Subsequently, the kinds of difficulties faced by an international student with dyslexia in intermediate level Japanese reading classes at a Japanese university and the effectiveness of multi-sensory approach in overcoming these difficulties are examined. Finally, the reasons why this kind of support, which was unnecessary in beginner and earlyintermediate level classes, became imperative at an intermediate level are explored by examining the format, textbooks, and supplementary materials of the intermediate level class.
